Laura Young was born in Toronto/ Canada, and began playing the guitar at the age of ten. After completing her Music Degree at the University of Toronto, where she studied with Eli Kassner, grants from both the Canada Council and the Ontario Arts Council supported her participating in masterclasses with David Russelll, Leo Brouwer and further studies at the Hochschule in Cologne/ Germany with Hubert Käppel.

Laura has won prices in prestigious international competitions such as the

	Andres Segovia Competition in Palma de Mallorca, Spain
	Jacinto e Inocencio Guerrero Competition in Madrid, Spain

She has appeared as a featured soloist at such concert halls as the Alte Oper Frankfurt, Germany, The National Arts Centre Ottawa, Canada and the Auditorio Nacional Madrid, Spain as well as performing at the International Guitar Festivals of Toronto, Canada; Esztergom, Hungaria; Gdanks, Poland; Cologne, Germany; Volos, Greece.

She has recently performed throughout Europe as a member of the highly successful Guitar Trio de Cologne which was founded in 1991.

The wide acclaim given her recordings, television and radio concerts in Canada, the United States, Germany and Spain indicates the magnitude of this young artist´s talent.
